The Bahamas are an independent country.WestTexasCrude wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2019 8:15 pm One thing I don't understand and of course is never mentioned in any media accounts/ Aren't the Bahama's a British territory (Like Puerto Rico a US one)? Should they rebuild the Bahamas ?

Thanks, I had to look that up. They are Independent since 1973. Commonwealth of Britain, like Canada and Australia. Still, where are the Brits? Surely, they have a few "Liberty" ships left over that we sold them to send aid.Reservoir Dog wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2019 8:29 pmThe Bahamas are an independent country.WestTexasCrude wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2019 8:15 pm One thing I don't understand and of course is never mentioned in any media accounts/ Aren't the Bahama's a British territory (Like Puerto Rico a US one)? The Brits are not obligated to help the Grand Bahama island any more than they would be to help Canada if Halifax got flattened by a hurricane.WestTexasCrude wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2019 8:36 pmThanks, I had to look that up. I hear you. So, what does a Commonwealth agreement do for countries like Canada and the Bahamas? Protection for defense under the British nuclear shield?Reservoir Dog wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2019 8:40 pmThe Brits are not obligated to help the Grand Bahama island any more than they would be to help Canada if Halifax got flattened by a hurricane.WestTexasCrude wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2019 8:36 pmThanks, I had to look that up. being a member of the commonwealth is sort of like being the member of a country club. it just means you are like minded and agree to the terms of the club and you let the Queen be the Club president every year.WestTexasCrude wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2019 8:51 pmI hear you. Maybe that is his point. The US should mind it's own business and NOT SEND OUR MONEY THERE. I am OK with another country stepping up to the plate for a change.Reservoir Dog wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2019 8:56 pmPerhaps you should heed your own advice....WestTexasCrude wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2019 8:51 pmI hear you. Re: Should they rebuild the Bahama’s ?
I wasn't attacking. I actually believed the Bahamas were still a British territory. Surprised to see they have been independent not just lately but almost 50 years ago.
Re: Should they rebuild the Bahama’s ?
It does get old. Haven't heard about Canada sending fleets of ships, helicopters, massive aid shipments to help their fellow Commonwealth. It's exactly my point.PimpDaddy wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2019 9:06 pmMaybe that is his point. The US should mind it's own business and NOT SEND OUR MONEY THERE. Part of the problem is there's no infrastructure in the Bahamas now. It will be difficult to help those in need.WestTexasCrude wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2019 9:35 pmIt does get old. Re: Should they rebuild the Bahama’s ?
As President Trump pointed out accurately a few weeks ago, after Puerto Rico (US territory) got slammed 2 years ago, the US/FEMA ended up spending $90 Billion + to help (By far the largest relief effort in US history) and got nothing but bitching/ moaning from them. Screw that. We are just going to take care of our 50- let the rest of the World take care of themselves, including defense. Tired of being the World's policemen. Have enough liberal problems at home to clean up without worrying about any of that.

Pakistan is a member of the british Commonwealth. Who knew?
Re: Should they rebuild the Bahama’s ?
1947 partition but I did not know that. Amazing. Still don't understand what a Commonwealth agreement brings to the home country. Maybe favored trade agreements but Britain passed from World superpower to 2nd rate economy many, many decades ago. Amazing what 2 world wars in a quarter century will do to your economy.

More Trump lies. Congress only allocated 42 billion and they have received only about 14 billion so far. Turn off fox dude

"The sun never sets on the British Empire" or something to that effect. How quaint
