All the news from the peanut gallery and where all the nasty trash talk fails miserably.
It can get NSFW-ish here: you have been warned!

That’s the first time I’ve heard that, is it true.?
whoever told you that has no idea what they are talking about.
That pretty much goes for anyone this feeble old fool watches on TV. CNN, MSNBC, etc.
FuelStreamServices.com

The article explains why we can’t process the oil that we pump.
Apparently our refineries are set up to process a different type of oil.
How much can it cost to retrofit a refinery?
They were probably talking about Canadian heavy oil. There are only a handful of American refineries that can process it.
Apparently our oil is desired for automotive fuel but our refineries like your oil so we have to import gasoline, fucking nuts
you have a dumb source for information. For the most part, West Texas Intermediate is a sweet crude oil. which means it is highly desirable for making gasoline. and we make it in our refineries on the Gulf.

That’s why I asked. I read an article, now I fact checked the article.
Do you know the percentage of gas produced in Texas versus gas that is imported?

no. but don't limit your search to refineries in Texas. There are large refineries in Louisiana and mississippi. California has a huge refinery and so does Indiana.

it sounds as though you are looking for evidence to support your thought that the oil produced in the US is not good for making gasoline. And that's simply not true.

I’m open to new perspectives, honestly I was surprised by the article.

What am I missing here? According to the article if all gas taxes were removed California gas would still be slightly over $4/gal. I filled up here in Nebraska a few days ago for $2.85.

CA has its own blend of gas refined only for itself, leading to higher prices.
