So, don't tell me what your job is

So, don't tell me what your job is
Explain in EXTREME minute detail what exactly you do at work. Use photos, illustrations, videos, whatever. I'll start. Several posts since posting images in this thread is always hit and miss. Most know I work in the oil field (heat and humidity kicked my ass today). Do many projects during the year, of course. Doing my main project for the year right now for the local Major engineers and the Texas Railroad Commission. Shooting fluid levels on about 500 wells. Pretty hard work. Do 10-15 a day and I come home pretty exhausted.

Does the machine you hold record the acoustic readings and store them on a flash drive (or whatever) or is the data transmitted real time as the test is in progress?WestTexasCrude wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2019 10:52 pmSo, I carry around a gas bottle loaded with Nitrogen gas (inert) and load this Echo gun to 700 PSI

Let me guess, sitting on your ass all day watching Netflix. I'm guessing photos, illustrations will be pretty boring.

Holy shit, I wish the wells I work on were this pristine. POS (cursing) banging with hammers, GDMF POS. Huge wrenches with "cheaters" You get the picture.WestTexasCrude wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2019 11:06 pmI then attach it one of the casing valves (one of the two round valves at the bottom). Attach an electronic monitoring device to the "gun". Open the casing valve and "shoot" the well. Speed of sound recorded on a paper strip shows the fluid level. Engineers use a special measuring tool to determine the level. Take every thing off, restore the well to it's original configuration and drive to the next well. Repeat for months.

So, describe exactly what you do at work. I'm thinking it's not connected to mine.

Oh not much.
2003 Ram 1500 the customer replaced his won heads with reman ones. Didnt torque the cam sprocket bolt (!60 Ft lbs) and it sheared the cam dowel pin. Sent heads out and got bent valves fixed, drilled and fixed broken dowel. Now has a cam sensor performance code. Scope the CMP and get this shit.

Hmm... 2002/03 was a transition year that changed from a 16 tooth crank sprocket to a 32, and they changed thee cam gear too. Nope, so joy.
Cam reluctor LOOKED correct and OK, but I ordered an OE sprocket, Upon examination of the one off of the reman head and an OE, there was not much difference. Mostly cosmetic things like a rougher finish, the windows appeared to be stamped out on the aftermarket and not a perfect window, and some slight distortion of the metal on some of the windows where the OE appeared to be laser cut and perfect. If I compared them side by side I would have said it would be OK to use. The truck is fixed, and the waveform is correct now. Total time, about 9 hours.

Close.
Precision Metal Fabrication. House tolerance is .010", but most clients demand .005" which is the best you'll get on finished metal product.

how does that acoustic device you use work on horizontal wells?WestTexasCrude wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2019 11:38 pmHoly shit, I wish the wells I work on were this pristine.
