Facebook tracking blocker

#1

Post by VinceBordenIII »

I'm back on Facebook. My friends from the service, HS, etc., are on there.

It's a huge waste of time, and I don't like being tracked to the scat porn sites I frequent.
But now there's Facebook Container, a Firefox add-on that stops FB from tracking you around the Internet.
AND, something else I have yet to try out, Facebook Blocker, which prevents you from going onto their app for a certain period of time. Not as good as being truly locked out for a week or two, but it helps.

Facebook Container:

Facebook Blocker:

I guess you guys are already aware of Ghostery, UBlock, and NoScript. uBlock is a little aggressive, but the other two are great.

Im confused.

Why do you need an app to lock yourself out of Facebook? If you don't wanna use it, just don't?

Self control is lacking in some of us.

Just don't leave FB open in another tab while you're surfing the web. When you're not on FB... close FB.

Problem solved.

I get the self control thing but not with facebook.. I mean what do you do on there? Am I missing something?

I mean I occasionally scan through the marketplace and see if there are any interesting old bikes etc up for sale locally.. other than that, the feed is just really dumb videos with awkwardly uplifting music. No thanks.

I don't think that's how it works. FB tracks you even after you log out and close it. You have to delete their cookies. I seem to recall reading that they're tracking non-FB users, as well.

Lots of old friends. Seeing people I knew 40 years ago, talking about their grandkids and such.
