I would like just one time.....
.... to see someone in an argument, about anything (brexit, collusion, al gores meter, whateverthefuck) have their opinion changed or admit they were wrong.
everyone on the internet these days seems to love to argue, but no one's opinion ever seems to be changed. everyone isn't always right.

It won't happen. The minute someone might be making sense, the other person will disappear back into their safe space echo chamber.

I admitted being wrong numerous times. Including thinking Comey would recommend indictment for Hillary.
I was wrong about Hillary getting away with Benghazi and the emails too. I though she skated. I was pissed. However, turned out to cost her the election and now, I think they are gonna go after her now that Trump doesn’t have the collusion cloud over him.

i was certainly wrong about the weapons of mass destruction in iraq. i believed everything that Colin Powell laid out to the UN when making his case to invade. It was embarrassing how bad our intelligence was.Gunzen wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2019 10:12 pm I admitted being wrong numerous times. Including thinking Comey would recommend indictment for Hillary.

Re: I would like just one time.....
Anyway I'll always admit when I'm wrong. I was drunk one Sunday afternoon and mentioned Gore's electricity bill. My claim of $40,000 a month was of course preposterous. It was $4,000. Really not that bad considering the size of his mansion. Everybody just raised hell after his "carbon footprint" campaign. So, I'll always see the truth when shown the evidence. I was wrong.

Me too. I got so pissed off at the Bush regime that I switched from being a republican to a democrat after that. What a bucket of lies. At the time I worked for a EU based pharma company and the whole time they told me that it was a bunch of bullshit. The entire rest of the world knew except the US.

well, i honestly think that Powell believed what he was saying. I think he trusted the intelligence. I think Bush did, too. I don't think it was a political party mistake, i think it was just really bad intelligence gathering. Maybe fueled by a real hatred of Sadam.FreakShowFanatic wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2019 10:36 pmMe too. What was really bad about the run up to war was our Intelligence Depts leaning on the word of one "inside informant" that the Pakistan Intelligence was warning about with loudspeakers. We were deaf. Not good for a Dept schooled in 50 years of battles with the Soviets.Flumper wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2019 10:23 pmi was certainly wrong about the weapons of mass destruction in iraq. i believed everything that Colin Powell laid out to the UN when making his case to invade. I think Powell was naive to the situation, they needed his political capital and trustworthiness. Bush the lesser lied us into war just like his Daddy did.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nayirah_testimony
The Nayirah testimony was a false testimony given before the Congressional Human Rights Caucus on October 10, 1990 by a 15-year-old girl who provided only her first name, Nayirah. The testimony was widely publicized, and was cited numerous times by United States senators and President George H. W. Bush in their rationale to back Kuwait in the Gulf War. In 1992, it was revealed that Nayirah's last name was al-Ṣabaḥ (Arabic: نيرة الصباح) and that she was the daughter of Saud Al-Sabah, the Kuwaiti ambassador to the United States. Furthermore, it was revealed that her testimony was organized as part of the Citizens for a Free Kuwait public relations campaign, which was run by the American public relations firm Hill & Knowlton for the Kuwaiti government. Following this, al-Sabah's testimony has come to be regarded as a classic example of modern atrocity propaganda.[1]

That's the guy. Sad commentary on our CIA/NSA Intelligence services that were lavished with 100's of Billions during the Cold War. W brought in a ton of people from his Dad's admin. No doubt pissed that the elder didn't finish the "Saddam problem" when he had a chance in 91. W actually ended up doing what he set out to do. At the cost of 2,000 US servicemen and 300,000 Iraqis. And we are still there. Dumb.CaptQuint wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2019 10:45 pm I think Powell was naive to the situation, they needed his political capital and trustworthiness. Don't believe the hype, W and crew knew exactly what the score would be, who would benefit, and that taking down Saddam would kick a hornets nest that will allow us to sell more weapons, maintain a solid presence in the Middle East, and (in the case of Afghanistan) keep the poppies flowing for years to come.

Probably the greatest fraud ever foisted on the US Congress was the LBJ 1963/64 "alleged" attack by N Viet "naval vessels" on US Naval vessels in the Gulf of Tonkin. What a bunch of horseshit. 10 years later, 50,000 US dead, 100,000 wounded, 3 million Vietnamese dead.
