I then attach it one of the casing valves (one of the two round valves at the bottom). Attach an electronic monitoring device to the "gun". Open the casing valve and "shoot" the well. Speed of sound recorded on a paper strip shows the fluid level. Engineers use a special measuring tool to determine the level. Take every thing off, restore the well to it's original configuration and drive to the next well. Repeat for months.

Holy shit, I wish the wells I work on were this pristine. POS (cursing) banging with sledgehammers, GDMF POS. Huge wrenches with "cheaters" You get the picture.

how does that acoustic device you use work on horizontal wells?

That's a damn good question. I've never worked on a horizontal well, only vertical. Actually, fluid level measurements are not needed on the wells once they are positioned horizontal. The whole purpose is to find the oil/water/gas contact point vertical. Once you go horizontal with the well it's all fluid.

Very clean when the a super nice and friendly staff. It is a little high priced but it's a hotel in the middle of nowhere. It had lovely decor and nice surrounding area.

Explain in EXTREME minute detail what exactly you do at work. Use photos, illustrations,videos, whatever. I'll start. Several posts since posting images in this thread is always hit and miss. Most know I work in the oil field (heat and humidity kicked my ass today). Do many projects during the year, of course. Doing my main project for the year right now for the local Major engineers and the Texas Railroad Commission. Shooting fluid levels on about 500 wells. Pretty hard work. Do 10-15 a day and I come home pretty exhausted.
