Here in Bermuda you can get a G Box that runs Android apps and watch about any live TV, recent release movies, and all episodes of any show. I don't need cable.

The wife only watches stuff over the air and she gets movies from the library routinely. We have Amazon Prime but she never uses it. During Xmas she watched a crapload of Hallmark movies off Youtube.

I do Amazon Prime, download routinely, watch a lot of documentaries and seminars on Youtube and during football season I pay for SlingTV to get ESPN / the SEC Network. On Sunday mornings I'll watch Premier League over the air.

All television is data and will be sent in packets along with the rest of it, if it isn't already. Cable, wireless, satellite, fiber optic.
Bandwidth is the only thing that matters. And compression.

Just for shits 'n giggles I just went onto our DirectTV DVR, and found the last three seasons of American Horror Story, all seasons of People of Earth and Preacher, and the last season of Good Girls and Better Call Saul. Yeah, that has always been a problem. Another is their whole price structure and how it evolves over time. I have Dish. Signed up well over 10 years ago. Started with the sweet starter deal- $30 something for 6 months, 1 year whatever. Knew it would go up when it ended. $50 something. Then the cost creeps in as the years pass. $60, 72, 81, 93, 105, etc. Would not the smart thing be to reward your customers that stay on year after year. It doesn't even have to be a large discount. Throw us a bone. Slashed everything to the bone. Constant question on why I even still have it.

I have Spectrum cable. Got HBO, Showtime. Just paid my bill. $47.59 for TV, internet and landline. I get a special rate because I live in a 55+ community.

I have directTV. I called them and told them I was going to switch to streaming and they cut my bill by 40 dollars. I have a ten dollar month discount and free HBO because of ATT.

I have three tv’s/DVR’s/insurance/PLUS PACKAGE/HBO and I pay 58 dollars a month.

They will work with you. You just have to ask.

My nephew works in the corporate offices of Dish. They don't make a profit off a client until they've been paying for almost 3 full years. ATT owning Direct TV and HBO, they've made it impossible for Dish to carry HBO by boosting the price until they know they'll never pay. It'll be an interesting court case all things considered.
