Ric Ocasek, lead singer of The Cars, found dead in New York
(CNN)Ric Ocasek, lead singer of the rock band The Cars, died Sunday in New York City, police said.
The New York Police Department received a call around 4 p.m. "for an unconscious male" at a townhouse on East 19th Street, the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Public Information told CNN.
Ocasek, whose identity was confirmed by police, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Cars became hugely popular in the late 1970s and 80s with hits including "My Best Friend's Girl" and "Drive."

If you can't be a good example, you can still serve as a horrible warning.

Has anybody started a pool for COD yet? I’m going to say prescription drugs.
Heart disease.
They don't know if he was 70 or 75 yet. Older than I thought either way.
P.S. He was 75
Ocasek was found dead at his New York City townhouse by Porizkova on September 15, 2019, where he had been recovering from surgery.[42][43][44] The Chief Medical Examiner office reported that Ocasek died from natural causes; Ocasek suffered from both hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases.[4
I think future generations when looking at Ric and "Cars" will come to the same conclusion as today. Sucked live, brilliant songwriting, whatever. No, it's "Who did they sound like"? It's a resounding- Nobody. Totally unique sound.
Yeah, they reported that last as a contributing condition
Ocasek died of hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, according to a press release Monday from the medical examiner's office. There was a contributing condition of pulmonary emphysema.
I searched, and found this:
Cole recalls the lanky musician as "very tall" but also "a very cool guy, very approachable, mild-mannered, easygoing. He was just sitting, laid back in a chair smoking a cigarette and we just started yapping about how cool the (music) scene was.
So it's likely smoking contributed to his conditions, and it's considered to be the main cause of emphysema.
It's such a shame, because drug addiction is something we all have to deal with, whether it be in our family, friends, coworkers..
Wasn't there anybody who could recognize his plight and help him?

Worst live band I ever saw.
It's a shame he died, though.
I just rethought this comment from our autism expert. The Cars were huge hits in the late 70's/early-middle 80's. Broke up in 1988. Not exactly sure how old our idiot RD is, but I'm assuming the concert he watched was either at the very end or some reconstituted band afterword. Please don't take anything this idiot states at face value. He's both young and dumb. Deadly combinations for any healthy conversations.

OK, now I've determined you're certifiable.
Just figuring out something we've noticed for 2 years. Hell, he called me a "hiilbilly". I don't have a tree in nature for 90 miles. Not much hiding room for the still.
