Not surprisingly, Canada is and has dominated one technology. Satellite communication systems. With most populations dominate in the US, Europe, Russia, China, Japan, S Korea along a fairly narrow swath of Earth, GEO's dominate (think of your Dish, Direct TV dishes pointed at the same area of the sky slightly South). Is almost useless above 65 degrees which is just starting in Canada territory. Dish subscribers that far N have to have their dishes almost pointed at ground level. Canada has perfected LEO's started by the iridium constellation from the late 90's. Fishing fleets, mining operations, LEO's, scientific operations, forestry operations, etc that far N have secure communications.
