If given the opportunity...

to move to a different state, excluding NJ cuz we know it's awesome but WHAT IF in 5 years I wanna move? Absolutely NO TENNESSEE OR OKLAHOMA. I've given thought to Texas though. I've lived in KS. Colorado seems cool but what is the deal with the airport it seems kind of weird there. I watch a lot of videos about California it seems awesome especially anywhere near the beach. I've also done extensive research about moving to ireland.
There's legit no hurry. It's just something to think about, daydreaming taking my mind off of this year tragedy and Trauma LOL

idk i ended that with an lol. Please forgive any typos I can't read for shit or type for shit I need new glasses and for some reason my phone doesn't understand me have time speech to texting!

Hi, we don't know each other. After a traumatic event, I wouldn't make any drastic changes for a little while( 1 to 1 and a half years). Also, I would want to be moving to something, rather than just away from something. If none of this feels relevant, feel free to disregard.

Hi, I also don't know you. I know I went through a traumatic event. It's just a ponderance. I'm not making any decisions because I don't have to. Never mind. I really appreciate the concern I know you all think I'm insane already.

Are any of us normal here? I've gotta to say I do love out here in Wisconsin. My kinda place. I can drive an hour east or west and be in Milwaukee or Madison. Each is so much different than the other. I can go 20 minutes and be in a trail, breweries and wineries. Never cared for the coasts. Too different of a mindset.
Why do you think Ireland would be a good place?

I only drove through Wisconsin briefly but I absolutely loved it! There was just something about it. I like the Solitude that Ireland offers. I've always spent a lot of time alone, even as a kid. I enjoy being outside. And it was so beautiful it was the closest thing I could even think about being a spiritual experience.

I've lived my whole life in Nebraska, I've kinda gotten attached to the place. I can't really see myself leaving full time, but if I did Texas would be my first choice.
Winters here are starting to suck so we have been giving serious thought to getting a RV a going to Tucson for the winter but I'm not sure I'm ready to give up my flock of chickens.

Michigan is a beautiful state 6 months out of the year. The other 6 not so much. It's no wonder we have more than our share of folks that go winter down south. It's also no wonder why they come back.

I've always liked Utah.

what if you chose 10 places around the US. It seems that you have somewhat narrowed down your list to places with trees, some kind of climate you like, etc. So, you pick 10 spots that interest you. Then rent an airbnb in each of them four about 4 or 5 days at a time. spread it out over a couple of years. Let it serve as vacation time and exploration of new spots. I would bet that during that adventure you would come upon exactly what you are looking for.

I've always said if i had enough money to make it worthwhile, I'd live anywhere on the northern coast of Washington state. It was just an astoundingly beautiful area. Not too far from, not too close to Seattle, and just a ferry ride over to Canada. Just a nice chunk of land along US-101, and I'd be fat 'n happy and rarely ever leave it!

As someone born and raised in Texas, it is itself a breathtakingly wonderful and beautiful part of the US. That state is full of magic practically anywhere you go, and it's so different even after a hundred mile drive in another direction. There is the issue of hurricanes along the coast and tornadoes in the north, but it's not so bad. The big issue with Texas is not the land, but the horrible cockroach-like pestilence known as the average Texan. They've overrun the state and turned it into a complete hellhole. Texans are not a phenomenal people, just loud and "friendly."
If you can't be a good example, you can still serve as a horrible warning.

I've only been in the southwest part of Wisconsin, the area across the river from Dubuque where my wife has some remaining family. It was a very pretty place! I never gave the state much thought, other than from a college friend from Madison who hated it. But other than the thing with snow (which I'm allergic to), I'd be happy to visit there again, do some more exploring. Very nice people live there.

We currently split our time between Dallas and Scottsdale, and of the two I prefer Arizona. There will come a time relatively soon where we give up our Texas home and will look for a summer place to replace it. Right now, we're looking at the Willamette Valley in Oregon or perhaps one of the San Juan Islands. Dont ever think we will be back on the East Coast

Orcas Island would be the correct choice if you could afford it.

It's Prescott, AZ my bad. I've been invited all over by his extended family which is vast. Both New England Italian Catholic and Episcopal (?) families his parents are boomers who are both from families of six. His family tree is like something from a math problem. I'm thinking bout Upstate NY and RI in late July.
