20 years ago the USA imported about 2.21 million barrels per day via the Strait of Hormuz. Today, that number is around 0.50 million barrels.
Are you suggesting that the Strait being closed doesn't hurt the US economy because it doesn't buy much oil that is shipped through it? Or what is this supposed to mean?

I'm curious, when it passes the all time peak under Bush in 2008 will you be able to admit maybe chump had a bad gut instinct? It's about a month away. Prices aren't returning to normal until at least 2027 at this point. Dummies get distracted by the day traders who react to the latest tweet, but ending things tomorrow doesn't actually get things back to normal for months in the case of the distorted shipping and revamping shuttered production, years in the case of the damaged infrastructure to date with more coming unless chump tacos. What level of damage will allow you as a maga moron to acknowledge there was a whoopsie?

Now, the NATO Secretary-General is signaling the NATO forces will be agreeable to helping enforce the peace in the strait. As of now over 20 countries have pledged diplomatic and operational support with naval support still in the works.

Various sources show $4.11 as GWB's peak weekly average in 2008 while Biden's weekly peak reached $5.11 in 2022. Currently the national average is $3.70 per gallon. Will that go up? Yeah, probably a bit.

Switch it from global oil prices to US gasoline prices if you like, chump has fucked up so badly we just have to wait a few days for the new record.

I'm noting that we are not as reliant on oil shipped through the strait as we used to be. Of course it will still have an impact on our economy but the situation is not the same as it was when GWB was POTUS.

Sure sounds like a great tactic to blatantly bluff with someone you're trying to negotiate with by threatening a war crime then caving within 48 hrs. Solid chess there

I'm guessing Iran will call his new 'red line' bluff as well then he'll order troops into kharg island so the casualties y'all notice can really start to mount. It's that or pussy out at this point.
But here's the deal. You have to put yourself into the negotiations. There were people negotiating a few weeks ago. They had bluffed Whitcoff and Kushner (or whoever they were) long enough and Trump had told them the Iranians they better make this deal or they would get hit hard.

Was he bluffing then? They have lost most of their leadership and who knows how many military targets in the past several weeks when he was not bluffing. Those same people (probably) are back at a table talking to Kushner again. Trump makes a threat and then they have to decide if he's bluffing or not. Its easy to call a bluff when you have no skin in the game. But maybe it got these guys attention just a bit. Maybe it got them to say some things that started to move the needle a bit. So, Trump called off the bluff. Now they aren't going to admit to any of that publicly. Just like Trump won't admit to a lot of what goes on publicly. But that bluff was so far out in left field that it makes more sense for it to have been a blff all along with the intent to get Iran to come public with what they would do in return so all of their neighbors could hear. Now Bahrain, UAE, Saudi, Oman, Kuwait, all of them know that Death to America can also mean death to anyone within missle range.
Chump betraying negotiations isn't calling a bluff it's proving for a second time negotiations are meaningless because chump betrays negotiations. That's not bluffing, that's called lying, bad faith, welching, take your pick. Whatever you want to call it you can't pretend it's a negotiating position because you've shown the whole world you're a lying little bitch and can't keep your word.
And yes I agree, countries that took the devil's deal to take US protection now do understand it's basically worthless. I don't think that means what you think it means..

But again, all you need to focus on right now is that your orange god having pussied out of his self imposed 48 hrs deadline is now going to pussy out of his self imposed five day deadline. How many repetitions do you need to engage your brain?
The entire premise of your argument is bullshit. Trump gives an "or else" ultimatum to a murderous bunch of religious lunatics and you call him a pussy. After 50 years of killing and chants of death to america, Trump stands up to a rogue and dangerous regime and you call him a pussy. He sends in the military to kick the living shit out of their military, assasinate their leaders, and you call him a pussy. And your solution would have been to do nothing and let them continue on and yet you don't see the irony in that. But you will be more than ready to live your life under the protection of a threatless Iran moving forward. Enjoy your worthless protection.

Doesn't matter, oil is the most significant global commodity. Turn off the supply in one region and it affects the world economy. It doesn't matter who gets what from where. We all suffer when supply is affected. It's a useless stat in the grand scheme of things.

Same with fertilizers and other global goods that travel through the Strait.

Seems like you are helping push Trump's false narrative that the US doesn't need the Strait opened as badly as other countries, when the exact opposite is true.

Due process and fixing the immigration process rather than using it to demonize people that look like me, Bob. After all, I thought the worst of the worst were the ones that were going to be the focus.

I just can't understand why Trump isn't getting parades and all of the accolades of someone that has just blocked the largest flow of oil in the world's history. Just think of how much carbon emissions he has saved the planet. Where are all of those people? Could it be that these people are really more worried about the cost of gas than they are about saving the planet?

For what? Again, what's your line on criminals? Felon, White House, but not a peep about criminality despite him starting a war even you can't bring yourself to justify. So unless these people are the violent criminals he said would be targeted for removal, you aren't going to win with this excuse. Try again.

I've seen what happens to legal citizens who disobey unlawful orders, they got shot and killed. You're not winning on this excuse either, Bob. Seems neither of you can state why these people were targeted since they don't seem to be the violent criminals rapists that were supposed to be the target according to the campaign by the criminal felon rapist traitor.
