ground turkey meat
Just wondering if anyone uses ground turkey meat for anything? One of my local stores the ground beef is like 7.99 a pound. and that's a value pack which is usually 3 pounds or so, a pound is like 8.49.That's like ground chuck, just regular old ground beef and price seems high, but even at my closest store it's 6.99 I think now. I think both stores just get the meat from big "logs" although the meat guy at 7.99 a pound, which is maybe 6 miles from me, states all their ground comes from grinding strips and rib eyes but I find that hard to believe. Their rib eyes were 21.99 a pound a few days back and their strips were 17.99. This is a chain store but I don't think it's huge but my other local is 3 miles away, they only have about 5 or 6 stores "in their chain" but they somewhat wpecialize in stores where poulation is smaller and people have less money, but in my area this location I think people would call the rich people as in many people are in say, 350,000 dollar homes and they build them like pancakes at a free breakfast.
Anyway so I buy ground turkey sometimes at the more expensive outfit. I get the 85/15 and I just paid 5.99 a pound as I wasn't going to pay the 7.99 for 80/20 ground beef. So do any of you folks use ground store bought turkey? It seems to dry out a hair more than ground beef, almost all is ground turkey meat , rosemarry extract and I think water? But there's no weird chemicals. Any tips or tricks. I usually taco meat it and after one pound I have left over so I may make a couple sloppy joes or stir it into a box of mac and cheese. I try to live cheaply as possible, but I'm not going to eat foods that I don't like. If that's the case I give up on what ever and have a couple peanut butter/ peanut butter jelly sandwiches. Mainly just curious if people use ground turkey and also if you want to discuss meat prices. The bigger comments I've heard at the steep place, since tarrif talks started is people will say, "prices are so high because of tarrifs" and that is when news reports just stated at that time "tarrifs may result in increased prices if imposed" so they hadn't been started yet, but I occasionally heard people say " now that Trumps started tarrifs prices will go up" but tarrifs hadn't been started so I'llleave it at that. I'll add, china and mexico stole my occupation and my business , I say tarrif the fuck out of everyone, that cuts into USA and leave it at that. But I don't think high prices now are tarrifs, it's just too soon. Other factors drive up prices at this time.

It's OK.
It's best if it's mixed in with something like a lasagna. I wouldn't use it for burgers.

Problem with turkey meat is that it's so dry, little fat in it. And since it's mostly breast meat, it's also pretty tasteless.
If it's going to be mixed up with other ingredients and seasonings, with some sort of fat mixed in (I like bacon grease), it works out fine.

if you are selling turkey breast meat at good prices you have to find something to do with the turkey buttholes, wings, tail meat, etc.

I will eat a smaller portion of ground beef and eat it less often as opposed to replacing it with ground turkey. The turkey never tastes better.

That helps me understand something very strange that I did after eating my ground turkey tacos. I went in to "shake the dew of my lily" but I stood kind of sideways to the toilet and lifted my leg to pee. (snare drum cymbal crash!)
I did end up dumping some olive oil in it after I browned it as it was quite dry I also put in a little bit of beefy onion soup mix in with the carne asada seasoning I was using so they were pretty good, but yes, I do prefer ground beef.

I'm sure if mixed with beef and sausage it would make a great filler for a smoked meatloaf.
