“People didn’t use to use the word embarrassing about Seattle, but they use it a lot now,” the narrator to a new KOMO News special titled “Seattle is Dying” says. The focus of the special is homelessness and the ways in which it has changed the city.

Seattle is growing and getting richer. It needs more housing because of continuing growth. Dying is an odd term for that.
Re: Seattle is Dying
Didn't you get the news. Washington State Congress solved this homeless situation almost a year ago. Pay everybody flipping burgers in the State $15/ hour. "Problem Solved". Good Fucking Lord.

Yeah, because keeping the state minimum wage at $12 an hour (or $7.25 federal) would have been way better, right?WestTexasCrude wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2019 7:44 pmDidn't you get the news. As I stated a few weeks ago, because of the economic boom around here, I stopped at a Whataburger (Texas MD's) to eat lunch. Signs all around offering anyone $17/ hour right off the street. That's economic reality as opposed to from top down feel good legislation that not only doesn't solve any problems but makes everything worse. Typical Socialism solutions. Always ends in failure. Typical solicialist solutions always end in failure? Do you ever really think about socialism?I can't really go on in too much depth aboot socialism in the US, but socialist services work in a lot of other countries. I just googled social services in the US, and got a Wikipedia page about the social services available in the US, that seem to be working just fine. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_pr ... ted_StatesWestTexasCrude wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2019 8:31 pmAs I stated a few weeks ago, because of the economic boom around here, I stopped at a Whataburger (Texas MD's) to eat lunch. So, whether you want to drink the Fox news kool aid about socialism, it is alive and well in your country. And also in other first world countries. If you stop drinking the kool aid, and look into it yourself, you'll be less fearful of, and more informed aboot what you seem to be against. Don't be afraid of social programs, they help people.

Re: Seattle is Dying
Major cities (like Seattle) get all the homeless for hundreds of miles dumped on their doorstep to deal with. Almost all are either addicts, mentally ill or both. If you want to solve homelessness it isn't an income issue, it's a mental health and drug treatment issue. The economic based homeless tend to be short term and are aided by the city and state programs to get back on their feet.

Re: Seattle is Dying
Watched the entire vid--it's legal to have 3 grams of smack--then Seattle cannot understand why all these people are useless humans camping and shitting in downtown. Nobody made these people addicts but the city sure made it easy to become one. So,Seattle gets exactly what they wanted for these people-freedom to become useless and a burden of working people who pay taxes and work for a living. Most junkies I know want to be junkies and they couldn't care less about much else. Those wanting to get clean do. No sympathy for that city or those people, they made their choice. Friend from Vancouver says downtown is exactly like Seattle. I bet nobody on Seattle city gov. lives in downtown.like good Socialists they create problems then need more taxes to band-aid the problem.

I have an idea to solve the drug problem. We outlaw drugs and throw users and dealers in prison. Historical evidence definitely indicates that.
