Smartphone Ideas?

So.. I've hated my Samsung Galaxy whatever the hell it is since day 1... and it's long past its prime. So I need to replace it and I don't want another Samsung nor am I interested in an Apple product.

So.. any tech folks with good advice around here? The last phone I loved was from Motorola but that was over 5 years ago. I see they make some cheaper options with great reviews but I'm feeling out of my element. Gadgets are not a focus of mine. I just want a nice phone that takes good photos, is powerful enough to handle normal operations and has a decent battery life.

Thoughts?

I picked up a OnePlus 6T back in Dec. I really like it. I probably don't use my phone as much as most people, but I can easily go 4-5 days without needing to charge it. I'd definitely recommend checking it out. I think it's only available at T-Mobile in the US. I'm pretty sure people have gotten it to work on Verizon & AT&T. I got mine directly from OnePlus since they were running a promotional deal.

Get a Galaxy Fold. If you don't like it you'll need a new one in a few days anyway.

The Moto G7 just got a price reduction on Amazon. You can pick one up for $199. I don't personally have any experience with it but it has solid reviews as a mid tier smartphone.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro is supposed to be a great phone for the money, $500. I would still pay double for a Samsung or Apple for the slightly better features, easy access to apps and the general collective knowledge of your piers when you need help with something.

If I have a problem with my Samsung, or the wife with her iPhone, the kids can figure it out in minutes.

Yeah i don't really wanna spend a grand on a phone that i'll likely drop or smash.. i'll check out the Xiaomi. Anyone know anything about the Chinese company Huawei?

Seems when you use smartphones as actual phones, they're dumb-phones.

The old flip phones worked better as actual phones.

Just remember to take that "useless" screen protector off when you get it?
