old android phone question

so i have old android phone , too old for updates and what not. I had it connected to my wifi to monitor camera in my barn. so I wanted to wipe it clean , put an sd card in it with all my music (audio) , install vlc player for android and give it to my friend so he can just press play and once connected to his stereo thru the earphone jack he can play the songs. but I can't figure out how to do anything to do anything because it wants me to sign into google. This phone was cheapest on amazon (say 7 years ago) and that was about the time they said these phones were sending info to china or some bullshit, but I've tried for 5 hours now to get vlc media player without signing into google because i don't want any of my info on the phone, so i could sign in , get vlc but then wipe my info off but that wipes off the vlc I've downloaded. Next step is a smash the shit out of this thing because after 5 hours I'm done. whole deal is the guy uses cassette tapes and wants them to play continuously. I have ordered some sort of mp3 player thing i think will work, i have used one for about 3 years to play my mp3 audio and it's perfect but I have to see it on tv to make various selections , he's out in his barn with no tv so i need something where the controls and what they do can be seen. My cell phone knowledge is basicly I can make a phone call but other than that nothing, i don't think I could even answer if it rang as I never use it. computers, pretty good, smart phones totally lost so I'm giving up for now. I have a player I made that works good but it won't shuffle play and it starts at the beginning if it is shut down so the 50 hours of songs starts from the beginning, so only the first 6 hours (or whatever) are all listener ever hears.
