they have to be Belgium Waffles with the deep pockets for lots of butter and syrup to soak in. cooked crisp and served hot with warm syrup.

Pancakes. Waffles are half air sold at the same price. Plus you almost always have to cook them in the oven because I guess the microwave overcooks said half air. Plus you can never get the butter in those grooves.

Waffles. Cooked a little longer so they're crisp on the outside. Butter and maple syrup.

If its just butter and syrup then I prefer pancakes/hotcakes. If there is lots of other stuff going on top I'll take the waffle.
