I know, on some things that you might return its good to have them (tv, washing machine, lawn mower, etc). But, holy shit, for lunch? I wonder what the percentage of people that go into a diary queen and actually want a receipt for their food? You go into home depot to get trash bags and you get a receipt. what in the fuck am i going to do with this receipt? and you even have to check a box to tell them not to email you the receipt. really? i want an email to document this purchase of trash bags? get the fuck out of here with all these receipts.

how about you don't get a receipt unless you ask for one? and how about you don't even print one unless its asked for?

I like receipts. I keep a few files in my cabinet. Home improvement expenses.. groceries.. etc.

Comes in handy and helps to keep me organized.

Most businesses in my town now will ask you if you want the receipt.

It's easier to just print a receipt and train people to give them out than to have an option.

The email thing I've seen at Staples and places that cater to other businesses. That way charges to a corporate card can be verified easier.

Fast food: maybe people are traveling and need to document meals?

Other: back to being reimbursed for an expense or for tracking sales tax paid.

i'd be interested to set up a pollster at the entrance to a dairy queen and get a survey of how many people are traveling on an expense account and need to document their meal cost for reimbursement.

Wtf, online banking. I got into the habit of logging in all my money into a budget spreadsheet I made to help me through the obscene alimony I was stuck with for a while.

I'd imagine it is a loss prevention practice as well.

They always give me 3 receipts at Cheddars. Pain in the ass. But I just logged off Florida Hopitals billing site (which is aLwaYs questionable), without paying because I have to print the receipt and my printer is down. They don't send a paper bill, which fucks me all up. Then they give me a robo-call telling me to go to their billing portal. fuck that. I'm calling them. Sometimes you just gotta have paper when you're dealing with a f/u cked up operation.
