Me, too. The company offered it at their cost, so why not?
That looks to be the more effective one
You had to pay to get the vaccine?QillerDaemon wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 3:43 pmMe, too. The company offered it at their cost, so why not?
No, what I meant was that the company contracted with a vaccine provider and ate the entire cost of it. Neither we employees (including the CEO) nor our insurance company paid a penny for it. We're a large (very large) medical laboratory company, and the company thought it best to provide us the protection. Most of us have some contact either with patients or our medical clients where spreaders could certainly be, and frankly didn't want its employees losing work time or dying just doing our jobs. It certainly wasn't the company being selflessly altruistic.Reservoir Dog wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 3:45 pmYou had to pay to get the vaccine?QillerDaemon wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 3:43 pmMe, too. I know the companies are getting paid. but the people getting the vaccines aren't paying them. the government is paying them.
my god.
what a fucking tool.necronomous wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 7:14 pmYou do understand where the government gets its money, right?
That's not 100% accurate: the vaccine itself is "free" ie paid by the US government. But administrative costs are not, and the providers can request a reasonable fee for doing vaccination events. Costs for personnel, materials that aren't the vax, etc can be charged either to the patient's insurance or covered by other governmental funds. As long as the vax recipient is not being charged directly. That's what the company paid for, the admin costs for the vax events to be provided to its employees. We as employees got the vax for free, sure, just for signing and showing up as our scheduled time. But in our case, all I know is the company paid for the events so we could get the vax.
ah. I wish someone offered that around here. Where you could pay a fee and they would come on site and do them. MedStar does that for flu vaccines (prior to pandemic). But I have yet to see it offered for Covid. The County will do it, but it takes a big commitment. Like a large church or a huge company, etc. You have to need a LOT of shots and you have to have a good facility. Not 100 construction workers lined up in a parking lot.QillerDaemon wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 10:56 pmThat's not 100% accurate: the vaccine itself is "free" ie paid by the US government. Well... why you may not be at additional risk or even lower risk of getting covid people with COPD that actually get infected wind up with devastating complications. And let's face facts people with COPD usually have a hell of a lot of other health issues. No offense but you should run not walk and get that vaccine
