Measles

Any of the younger generation here never been vaccinated and at risk? Has anyone like me got vaccinated the old fashioned way by getting sick?

I was born in the 60's and was babysat with 6 other kids (cousins). We all eventually came down with Measles, Mumps and Chicken Pox. When I went into the service I got the MMR vaccination so I'm good. I have to put the shingles vax on my to do list.

When I got measles I remember my mother making me wear sun glasses inside and putting socks on my hands so I wouldn't cause scars from scratching.

I received all vaccinations and was purposely exposed to chicken pox etc. I was considering the shingles vac but I believe it costs 300 bucks

I received the first shingles Vac but can't find the second. Everyone is out of it and I'm on a waiting list.

If you have health insurance it's free.

Shingrix is supposed to be the more effective one. There are two. (Zostavax being the other) Shingrix is two doses spread over 6 months.

My insurance covered the shingles shots. You need two at least two months apart.

Me mom didn't get that vaccination and contacted shingles in the 90s. Nasty scars. She's pushing me and my brothers to do it.

Last I checked here it was just over $200 out of pocket even with my insurance. Didn't do it, but not unaffordable.

My Mom had shingles a few years back. She would have gladly paid $300 not to have had it.

One version seems to not be effective the other has supply issues. I just called a CVS and was told they will have it in April and was quoted $280, so we shall see

Do it. You gotta be pushing 50 and I don't want you to die of full body herpes.

Not particularly

“Is everybody in? Is everybody in? Is everybody in? The ceremony is about to begin. The entertainment for this evening is not new, you've seen this entertainment through and through you have seen your birth, your life, your death....you may recall all the rest. Did you have a good world when you died? -enough to base a movie on??”

When I was a kid, if a child was sick with some illness, the mothers would bring their children to play with that kid, so as to expose them to the illness. Was it measles? chicken pox?
My kids were in daycare and it was the same thing: Never a good time...
I know I had mumps.

My father in law had INTERNAL shingles which took 2 months to diagnose.
The man had a torn rotator cuff and multiple broken ribs; didn't tell anyone, didn't mention he was in pain, didn't go to the hospital and didn't miss a day of work as a truck driver.

Internal shingles had him crying it hurt so bad.

I guess my parents weren't idiots, they didn't purposely get us sick.
