Here’s The Problem:

Boards like ujr are out of fashion. They don’t work well with the way people use the Internet today.
First you have to be seen, then you have to be used. We’re not even seen by the vast majority of potential users, who are now on phones and personal sexual devices.
Consider Usenet. Same thing.
It’s sad, because I was lurking on the old uj long before I first posted. Now I’m missing old posters. Like what’s his name, and that other guy. And the women, too!
Think of how much you all could have learned from me! How much richer your lives would be.
Alas.

I post on some other forums (I'm an admin on one) and they're all dying slow deaths. Nothing dramatic, just users slowly drifting away and disappearing into the ether. It's inevitable, I guess. The modern electronic short attention span doesn't have time for web forums any more.

Reddit does pretty well, it's because it's widely known. I assume everyone found UJ because of the UJ network aggregating porn, funnies and gore. All the smaller spin offs have the same problem, which is a limited pool of people that just degrades over time until you have the something like the insane scum of FSF and gunzen left floating on the decaying mess. Not really much help for it unless you want to invest in something like the old hoover network, or pay for advertising.

I think the explanation is simpler. When the original UJ was started back in the 2000's, it was pretty unique like other similar boards. Not a whole lot of other options for your time, Since then, smart phones have appeared, Facebook, Netflix-Amazon, hell the list is almost endless on other ways to spend your time and attention. I still like the forum style, though. It still has the power to entertain.

Even 4chan is essentially dead. The format doesn’t lend itself to the current technology.

This place reminds me of my former workplace. We would all gather up in the morning before work officially started and it would be ball busting, airing of the grievances, bullshitting about whatever news of the day. Same shit every day but it was a ritual I miss.

Same here. Reddit’s format is a pain in the ass.

Reddit's format sucks. The comment on 4chan is off-center. It has gone to shit, but it's main problem has always been that it's global and way too big. 300 post limits that sometimes happens within 1 hour and that thread is gone forever. Plus letting pols, traps, gay crap, endless infest every day without some control.

Here's some problems.
It seems most people come here to get entertainment and not provide entertainment.
There is not enough really interesting information posted.
There aren't any threads about why girls are so happy peeing.
Evvan isn't posting and somehow DP got pissed about the 2 or 3 boob threads.
There is way too much derailing of threads by the stupid attempts at bashing each other.
Politics is stupid.
Diabolik is gone.
I challenge everyone to find one thing that you have seen, heard, read about, whatever.... that you found interesting and you think that some other members might not have heard about it. Then make a thread about it.

Look, I'm sure like most here (took me a year to even find it), most knew that any incarnation of UJ was bound to be a shell of itself from the glory days. I'm good with it. Just good to converse with people I've known for a long time.

I’m off Facebook hopefully for good, so it’s nice to have familiar people online here.

I've never Fazebooked or Dittered.
When I first got online it was BBS. Times have changed. I've seen forums come and go. It's cyclic.
