In the object. It's absorbed by the object, but the color you see it reflected. Therefore the object itself is not that color, but the reflection of that color.

This kind of reminds me of a debate I get into when people have had a few drinks about sound. In particular the saying "If a tree falls in the woods and nobody is there to hear it, does it make a sound?"
