Reveal Party

Seems to be a thing now. Pop a balloon and pink or blue smoke floats away. Some shit like that.
My brother in law got married a few months ago. His new wife is throwing a reveal party for her single, 17 y/o daughter. The color is already revealed...they are having a GREEN party. Something like "baby already has everything he or she needs, so we are requesting monetary cards instead of gifts."
To which I say, FUCK OFF! Just because Mom had 4 kids out of wedlock, starting as a teenager, it doesn't make it a family tradition your teen daughter has to follow. On top of that, baby-daddy lives else ware, and 'when he gets on his feet' he will move here to be with her. Good luck with that. Until then, not only the 17 y/o and new kid, but a 2nd daughter are moving in with my BIL. With their 2 dogs. In their small 2-bedroom house. Not to be racist, but the BIL wedding was very puertoricanny, and this story did not shock me. I almost feel bad for the BIL, but he should have seen it coming.
So, do you thin it is OK to have a GREEN reveal party?

"baby already has everything he or she needs."
Good, you get nothing and I go to the bar that day and get beer and hot wings because I need those things.

Mrs. CHEEZY and I would probably find a way to have a previous obligation that day.

One shouldn't encourage 17 year old sluts by having parties. They need to be shunned and shuffled off to a nunnery in disgrace like God intended.

Forced abortion and 17 months in a brothel so they parents can use her wages for a month long cruise and home remodel while they're on the cruise

Has the young lady inquired about the wonderful job opportunities at the local strip club yet?

I think we are all on the same page. I am having a hard time with my natural cynical nature, to find a positive spin on this. Well, not that because I really don't give a shit.
And like Capt, I NEED beer and chicken wings!

So do any of her kids have a father in their life?

Mom has 4 kids from 3 guys, none are around.
2 soon to be 3 of her kids have their own kids, NONE of the fathers are around.
The BIL has 2 of his own kids, in a fair relationship with Dad, but not their Mom.
1 has 2 kids, not married. I think the other is gay, but no kids.
Not a stable relationship in the bunch, except maybe the gay kid with no kids of his own. I have no faith that the BIL and his new wife will make it. The plan was to split time in North/South depending on the seasons. Now, with 2 kids moving in, I assume that plan craps out. One girl 13 maybe? and has to be in school. The 17 y/o with no job and a baby on the way will need more help than anyone wants to admit. The new marriage and life plans are completely altered within months of getting married. Going forward, the lot of them should have their water supply treated with Plan B pills.

This is a millennial thing. So dumb.
The reveal party, or the single parent thing? I agree about the reveal party. It's just another "look at me!" instagram moment.

17 years old, and she's gonna have a kid? Yeah, I predict great things for her in the future. Life is so easy to begin with, then add a kid when you're still a kid yourself. Brilliant.

Some families are just seriously dysfunctional and if you talk with them it's pretty obvious why. Rage, addiction, low self esteem and usually an attraction to abusive or destructive partners.
My wife has a friend who's life is basically a porno soap opera. They've been friends for about 25 years and didn't have a clue about her secret life until about 2 years ago.

It's not an automatic sentence to loserville, but raising kids is obviously less chanlenging with two parents working together.

2 teen parents staying together to raise a kid? LOL!! I wonder how often that actually happens? As for single teen moms, here's some stats aboot that.
The Numbers Don’t Add Up to Success
Only 40 percent of teen mothers finish high school. Fewer than 2 percent finish college by age 30.
Young women who give birth while attending a community college are 65 percent less likely to complete their degree than women who do not have children during that time.
Children of teen mothers perform worse on many measures of school readiness, are 50 percent more likely to repeat a grade, and are more likely than children born to older mothers to drop out of high school.
