I find your obsession with that map amusing.
That's the 3rd time you've posted it.

That #7 route through the upper Michigan peninsula is stunning. The scenery along the upper western coast of the southern peninsula is also simply amazing.

The run of #6, the Atlantic Coast, from Key West to just about Myrtle Beach is a hell of a drive, very scenic, and very worth doing at least once. It's best if you get off I-95 when you can and instead drive along A1A, much better viewing.
Also, waypoint #11 for the Fountain of Youth Park is misplaced. It should be showing St Augustine which is south of Jax, not north. That's a weirdly fun place to visit when in the area.

Oldest
continuously occupied town in the US is St Augustine, founded in 1565. "Continuously occupied" is important, as there were towns founded before then, but have since dropped off the map or later resettled under different names. St Aug has had someone living there and calling it home since it was founded.
Oldest founded town in Canada is St John's, chartered in 1497 by the English. The oldest continually occupied town founded by Europeans in the Americas and still using the same name is Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, 1496. Mexico City and a few other towns the Spanish occupied were already established towns long before then, but had their names (and often their populations) changed.

so, do the Pilgrims get a lot of undeserved attention? most people think they were first to settle.

I'm guessing ecu alone drinks more than Asheville 3 times over.

There was a time when Hamtramck, MI would have been top of the list. Not sure if its still true but at one point the small city completely surrounded and within the borders of Detroit had the most bars per capita of any city in America. That was back when Hamtramck was about 90% Polish, though. Now, I believe its mostly Muzzie.

From a tourist perspective I could see how Asheville would rate but I would agree ECU would rank up there on a consistent basis unless you went to a UNC basketball game when they beat Duke and then for one night Franklin street is the drunkest place on earth.

I can confirm Savannah Ga, they have two past times in Chatham County. Drinking and gossiping go hand in hand...they literally ignored prohibition and gave the finger to the Feds.

And the winner in New Mexico is Gallup. With a population of 21,000.
Not Albuquerque with 560,000 people. Or Las Cruces or Rio Rancho with each over 100,000 people. Not Taos, Redriver, Ruidoso or Roswell or any of the other tourist towns that are filled with night life. Gallup. A town not really known for anything other than being the Indian Capitol of the World. Most of its population is native american.
