I've heard gripes about their property taxes.

Though NJ's are the highest I think.

P.S. If DeGrom plays as much for the Rangers as he did for the Mets the last couple of years, this contract will look putrid.
The property tax on my townhome in Dallas is 22k, which is much lower than what I would pay in income taxes.

On a side note, our Democrat county judge ran on property tax cuts. The guy is still a major cunt but proof that not Texas Dems are different

Is it?

The total tax rate for the City of Dallas has declined annually since 2017. The FY22 tax rate is $0.7733 per $100 in valuation. The change from previous fiscal years is below.

Tax valuations isn’t the same as market valuations. You know this, right?

Sure, but if you paid $22k, that means your assessed value is almost $3M.

For rental properties, I plug in a property tax rate of 2.45% (it can vary from 2.1% to 2.5%) of what I think the tax assessor is going to value the property at (which is pretty damn close to the market value if it has sold in the past several years).

A $200,000 rent house will have property taxes of around $4,900 a year.

You only listed the City of Dallas rate at $0.7733 per $100. You also have Dallas County, the Dallas ISD, and a few others. The Dallas ISD is over $1.18 per $100.

Of course Animal will take a Baseball/Sports thread and turn it into a discussion of tax rates.

Any guess as to where you think Swanson ends up? I've heard St Louis but who knows? I don't think Atlanta gets a hometown discount.

With the top 2 pitchers they have pushing 40, they have about a 2 year window. After that, it's time to blow it up and collect minor league talent.

P.S. They have money coming off the books in the next year or two, particularly Cano

holy hell that would suck. He has the same agent as Freddie Freeman (has/had?} so I could see that happening. Once again I don't think he gives Atlanta a hometown discount. I think I read they are about 40 million apart.

What the hell Alex A? Yeah, that's a head-scratcher. Williams's bat came around in 2022. He was the DH in a lot of games. His defense also improved. Definitely a hmmm moment.
