I haven't had shingles (yet), but I remember my dad having them when I was a teen. I never knew the extent of his curing abilities until then.

My PCP thinks that I may never get them, but if I do, it'll likely be a pretty mild case of them. My wife has had neither chicken pox or shingles.

When I was a kid, if a child was sick with some illness, the mothers would bring their children to play with that kid, so as to expose them to the illness. Was it measles? chicken pox?
My kids were in daycare and it was the same thing: Never a good time...
I know I had mumps.

I guess my parents weren't idiots, they didn't purposely get us sick.

Chicken Pox is highly contagious, and much worse for adults. It was preferable to get it when you were young. There was no vaccine, so parents exposed their children to it.

If your wife hasn't been vaccinated she could still be vulnerable to getting chicken pox as an adult and that would really suck. You can actually come down with chicken pox by being exposed to someone with shingles.
