Yes. But my aim is getting better....

Yes but if it’s 100 degrees and you’re coming home at 6:00 you can have the air kick on at 5:00 so it’s cooler when you walk in instead of sweating while you wait for it it cool down. But, since you’re proudly avoiding simple conveniences of today’s world, the toggle switch should work fine.
who do you think pays for that 1 hour of cooling when no one is home? think about that.

Most likely his sister is paying for that.

Replacing a 3 decade old pos. Don't need any BS wireless setting from your vehicle app crap, 5 day programmable Bullshit. Touch it, it works- amazing. Honeywell looks the option but screw the batteries- mine's hot wired. Any comments before I order from Amazon? It could cost me $5 extra . Think carefully.
Yes, you don’t think shit through. Programmable allows for varied temperatures when you’re not there and a battery backup keeps it functioning should the power go off.
Thanks- appreciate it. Comment makes no sense (no offense). So when the power goes off, these magical batteries allow my AC to keep working? superfluous bs wireless computer apps POS . When I get home working 100 degree days, I'm pretty capable of firing the AC up with my fingers, no magic involved.
i assume what he means is that the batteries keep you from losing your pre-programmed info in case there is a power outage. really that is of no importance to you if you don't want a programmable.
Most programmables will hold their programming in the case of a power outage even when not equipped with battery backup
Yeah, I get that- but it's not a clock. Set temp at 72 (heat or ac). Power go off- it will be back at 72 when power comes back on. Unnecessary BS. Like those back lid lifts on SUV's where the wife's don't even have to touch anything to have it open. JFC- Has it really come to this. Another electrical problem in 10 years.

Agree- it's actually pretty amazing. it's an original thermostat in this house from 1986- I've never replaced one- I get the procedure, just do not see the need to for all this wireless, pre-programmed BS. Thus my point. Point to 72 degrees. Select Heat or cold. How hard is that.

I bought a programmable thermostat maybe ten years ago, $50 to $100, no idea but it wasn’t much. It was simple enough that someone as clueless as me was able to figure out how to install it. At its price and replacement cost it’s disposable and has been working all this time.

Exactly. Noticed those in the video. For DT, it's scamming the old rich ladies like he performs magic or something.
DT only advertises in the AARP magazine and on the place mats at Luby's.

Yes, you don’t think shit through. Programmable allows for varied temperatures when you’re not there and a battery backup keeps it functioning should the power go off.
talking thinking things thru,if power goes 'off' means the a/c has no power to run,but programmable T/S is 'on' to run a dead A/C. ? doesnt make sense, you mean when power is restored to the A/C the T/S will control it again. Most A/C default to auto start after power loss to 75 deg. Get a cheap digital one for accurate readings.

The more I thought about it today, I can sure see why for some people a programmable thermostat isn't just a good idea but one that pays the extra cost pretty quick. Commute to work- house empty for 10 hours a day. Just the cost savings from having your house not being heated or cooled during that time is a major energy saver.

In the winter time I have it reduce the temp in the house to save some on energy costs and because you sleep better when it’s a little cooler. I have it go down at 11:00 and increase again at 7:00.
