What he's trying to say is that when he takes his wife and kids to the Sizzler buffet, they dress in t shirts and sweat pants so the people at the restaurant don't expect a tip or give them any trouble for taking all the sweet n low and silverware.

Jeez that blows. Is there another avenue you could pursue? Like could you sue him personally? It seems like with a mountain of evidence something should be able to get done somewhere or somehow.

So she thought, too. This happened back in the mid to late 90's, but she was still feeling the effects of it (harassing letters, late night phone call, etc) up until about 2010, including a very shitty credit record. Had the police simply even taken a report without doing anything else, she could have sent it to the credit agencies so there'd at least been something of an explanation.

It's all OK now, and hell, she's now got a superior credit credit, better than mine. But it took years of living with lousy interest rates and real fears of creditor suits to get to this point.
