Your example consists of two totally different crimes and I would agree with you in the scenario that you presented. This is different because all three crimes are related to his death and the same act.

Chauvin was found guilty of three different crimes in one act. He was charged and found guilty of manslaughter for being negligent and the result was Floyd's death. Second degree murder is Chauvin assaulting Floyd (a felony) and the result being Floyd's death. Third degree murder is for actually causing Floyd to die. Three crimes, three charges, one act.

They charged him with three levels of murder/manslaughter in hope that one would stick. It was intended to either or but it all three. There was only one act and one crime.

I stated on page 1/ post 13 he deserves 20 years just for his stupidity. That said, I think I see where this is maybe going with all the media glare. Sit's in jail for a year. Easy appeal just on alleged congresswoman Maxine Waters comments. Throw in everything else. Current memory patterns- nobody will even notice when he's released 3 years from now on appeal and acquitted later without the media hype. Media will be like "What's the name of that black dude years ago"?

 Just my 2 cents worth. Probably maybe, would point it out 3 years from now what actually ended up happening in the end. Knowing you lib's memories, probably not needed since by then you won't even remember what the Black dudes name was and will be bitching the Earth is allowing too much dust to be stirred up during wind storms.

April 19, 2021 - A man was shot and killed by Dallas police Monday in North Dallas after he attempted to rob two businesses and carjack a driver before running across a busy interstate with a "replica firearm," the police chief says.

Officers confronted the man after he ran across all lanes of Interstate 635 Monday afternoon and he displayed "what appeared to be a handgun," Dallas Chief of Police Eddie Garcia said Monday.

Garcia said three officers fired and struck the man at least twice. The man was taken to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas where he was pronounced dead.

oh, wait. he wasn't black. i guess that explains the lack of protests. Not even one protester or a sign. anywhere.
