in high school machine shop the teacher was usually pretty hung over and didn't pay much attention. he had a couple guys he called "shop foremens" but really they just walked around giving other students orders that no one listened to. A good example was when we first ground a lathe tool bit. we started with cold rolled steel to practice and when people got it right then they got a high speed piece to make an actual cutter. so for a couple weeks this dude Keith "spermin'" sherman kept grinding a tool bit , then run the lathe for a minute or so and then go back to the grinder with his toolbit. Finally the teacher checked on him and he had been trying to use the cold rolled practice bit to actually cut metal. Anyway, I was making a bong and turning up the "bowl" for it and I told the teacher it was a sprayer for a garden hose. So he looks at it one day and he said "i hope you're planning on putting a screen in that" I asked what for and he answered " the hole in the bottom is too big, you're going to suck ashes thru it and contaminate the bong water" and walked away. He was a trip. We made hash brownies for last day of class and everyone knew except the teacher and he ate about the whole pan and we thought we were really playing a joke on him but after he ate a couple he said "tastes pretty good, must have been some pretty good hash". The following year some guys tried to throw him in the hand washing station and he went nuts and knocked the shit out of 4 or 5 kids. One time he was watching me work and he looked rough and kept squeezing his eyes shut and looked like he couldn't focus his vision, I asked him what was wrong and he said "I drank 6 margaritas and 15 beers last night, I don't feel so good" when we couldn't find him later he was finally found in the steel room taking a nap.
