Still pulling for Arya. Though I could see Sansa getting it. Jon doesnt want it and neither does Arya probably so I could see Jon defaulting to Sansa. They are setting Tyrion up to be heroic though so you might be right.

I haven’t watched GOT. Was hoping to binge it once the series is over, but everything I’m reading about season 8 makes it seem like it sucks ass. I’m not binging 8 seasons unless there’s a good payoff.

The first 7 are pretty damn entertaining.. that's actually enough. Wouldn't be disappointed if I'd never tuned in for the "end."

Even with a lower caliber final season the rest of the series is fantastic. I'd still recommend it.

I'm in the same position, I don't get HBO (yet, thinking of doing the HBO2GO thing), but I've seen I don't know how many hours of clips on YT to get a pretty good sense of the show's progression. From all appearances, it does seem like the production team is rushing this last season. The acting is just as good as ever, the basic production values are still there, but they've clipped the hell out of the concluding story line just to wrap up the arch. But shit, I'll still watch it all when I get the chance.
If you can't be a good example, you can still serve as a horrible warning.

When people say this season doesn't make sense - what exactly doesn't make sense that did in previous seasons?

I think season 8 is pretty good but they are trying to do too much and I'm not a battle scene fan. There is going to be a lot in that final week I'm guessing. Cersei's death was exceptionally anti-climactic. The segment where the writers talk afterwards is sort of depressing in their thought process.

I can't speak for anyone else but to me it doesn't feel consistent with previous seasons. Season's 1-7 were character driven while season 8 seems to rely heavily on action without much concern for continuity with the past.. Aside from several absurdities which have been previously discussed.. laser guided super crossbows, tactical bumbling etc.. These three dimensional characters which they spent years developing feel flat and single-minded in this season. Perhaps from the need to fit so much into each episode there simply isn't enough time.. Oddly this brief conclusion was the showrunners decision, not HBO's.

sadly it seems the reddit community is likely thinking deeper about the possibilities of this story than the writers themselves.

I rewatched the first season and it seems the deep plot lines aren't necessary anymore

I have never seen an episode or a clip, so........

But, anyway, I was wondering. Wasn't the series based on a book (or set of books)? If so, then why would the show end any differently than the book?

The ending to the books hasnt been written yet. The TV show has long passed the books. The author it seems is infamously slow in creating his material so the TV show writers had to "wing it".

Dani said very early in the process "I will take what is mine with fire and blood."
Pretty much everyone in the storyline who she counted on or liked is dead or has turned against her. The unsullied guy is pretty much the only guy she can count on at this point. She has no other alternative at this point but to be killed or kill Jon as he's her only true threat to the iron throne.

I'm not a fan of the fighting or battle scenes but it's pretty obvious they've been working towards it for the entire length of the show with the "winter is coming" line.

Anyone notice that you never see from Dany's perspective again after she supposedly makes the decision to burn king's landing? Also when Bran asks the 3 eyed raven way back if he'll ever walk again and the raven says, "you'll never walk again, but you'll fly."

What if in that moment Bran either took over Dany or Drogon and burned king's landing for his own reasons?

Books and movies often have different endings.

Timelines have always been skewed, Dani burned the city down out of spite for killing her papa and then her handmaiden with the sweet tits.

I’m disappointed Arya never used the ‘faces’ again, I thought for sure she would have used Littlefingers face to fool some poor sap.

So many possibilities gone as they rush to end the series and start the prequels

One was going to kill the other at some point, when it happened I honestly wasn't sure who got the knife in the guts. I think there should have been a few more episodes instead of rushing it through.

Maisie Williams did say in an interview the ending was "heartbreaking", so that was what it was. And *he* is the king on the throne now. It's one of those things that you might not have expected, until you look back and go "oh yea, foreshadowing..."
