Whatever the fuck "common sense gun control laws" are, they would not change a thing. Someone who commits a crime, such as shooting up a school, does not obey laws. If they want to obtain a weapon, they will, one way or another. Gun laws only apply to law abiding citizens.

The problem here is untreated mental illness, such as "transgenderism". Instead of treating it as the mental illness that it is, our country enables it and calls them heroes all in the name of wokeness. They are sick and need professional psychiatric help.

People's ability to visit violence upon each other is a well. They will use whatever means they have or get their hands on to do it. Guns, cars, trucks, knives, fists, feet, sticks, rocks, poison, the list goes on. Banning guns and restricting sales will not change anything. Privacy laws already make it difficult for background checks to catch those with severe mental illness, though yours does stand out pretty well Salty. There is already a huge stigma for those struggling against mental illness and automatically banning them from having certain rights and privileges because they needed help in the past is straight up wrong.

Red flag laws are out there but many spiteful people would use those to hurt, slander, or harass others, there needs to be safeguards in place as well as punishments for those that use them maliciously before I would back those.
