i'm not sure i understand the question. I am pictures 3 balls (with radius 4) all stacked on top of each other like balls of ice cream on a cone. So, I don't know what you mean by the space between them?
oh, wait. you are talking about stacking them like balls in a pool rack. two on the bottom and one between them on top?

if the pool rack layout is right, then

1. if the radius of the circles is 4, the area between is 30.2929

2. A formula for that would be 2 x (3)^1/2 x X^2 - (Pi) x (1/2) x X^2

Or 2 times square root of 3 times X squared Minus Pi divided by 2 times X squared.

why does no one try to solve mine?

How many ducks does it take to make this formation?

2 ducks in front of a duck, 2 ducks behind a duck and a duck between 2 ducks.

i believe in catering education to all classes of society. we have to word these math problems so the inner city kids take more interest in the STEM programs.

Did Carl pay $140 for all the crack or just his 40 rocks?

or to simplify it more: [ (2)(sqrt 3) - (pi/2) ] * X sqrd = 1.893305 * X^2

or 1.893305 * (4)^2 = 30.2929

Put three quarters on a table over a piece of white paper so they stack up in a triangle shape. There will be a white space of the paper underneath that shows between them. What's that area?
