Whenever they show maps of which States vote for which party, the South is Pure Red. And no one disputes the Democrats owned it in the past, when they were the "Non-Lincoln Party." Now the Republicans own it, which means the South went from solid majority Democrat to solid majority Republican.
And no, that doesn't just mean the "Racist Democrats" became the "Racist Republicans". It's not that simple. Some Dixiecrats also saw the Democrats as too liberal and insufficiently "their flavor" of Christian. But a certain amount (variable from person to person) of old-fashioned racism factored into the decisions to eventually switch parties too.

A lot of people go through life thinking stuff about other "kinds" of people that has little to no basis in fact. If that's racist, or more accurately shows bias, then that's what most people are to some extent.
The best you can hope for is that people are willing to have their pre-conceived notions turn out to be, admittedly, wrong.

A Republican lawmaker in Montana claims the Constitution calls for socialists to be shot and jailed
Montana stage legislator is facing backlash after claiming that the Constitution calls for socialists to be shot and jailed.
State Rep. Rodney Garcia, who represents the Billings area, asked an unprompted question after a speech by former Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke at a state Republican Party gathering Saturday, according to the Billings Gazette.
In his question, Garcia raised his concerns about socialists "entering our government" and claimed that they were "everywhere" in Billings. According to the lawmaker, the Constitution says socialists should be either shot or jailed. (It does not.)
After Zinke replied by saying, "Montana's a great state," Garcia reiterated: "We have to do something."
Speaking to a reporter on Saturday, Garcia explained that he believes "in the Constitution of the United States (if) they are found guilty of being a socialist member you either go to prison or are shot." However, Garcia was unable to point to the particular section of the Constitution he was referencing.
He later added, "I agree with my Constitution. That's what makes us free. We're not a democracy. We're a Republic Constitution."
Spenser Merwin, the executive director of the Montana Republican Party, said in a statement that his state's party condemns Garcia's remarks.
"Under no circumstance is violence against someone with opposing political views acceptable," Merwin said. "It's disappointing that this isolated incident took away from the weekend's events which showcased the strength of our statewide candidates and the importance of the upcoming election."
The United States Constitution was created in 1787 and ratified one year later. Though socialistic ideas can be traced as far back as antiquity, the modern conception of socialism began with the French Revolution in 1789, evolved through various less successful iterations during the early 19th Century and became the Marxist ideology widely associated with the term "socialism" today when "The Communist Manifesto" was written by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels in 1848.
"These days it's hard to say where political analysis ends and psychoanalysis begins," Norman Solomon, co-founder and national coordinator of RootsAction.org and a Sanders delegate to the 2016 Democratic National Convention, told Salon by email. "Garcia is clearly unhinged."
"At the same time, the fact that Zinke responded only by praising the state of Montana — rather than condemning what he'd just heard — tells you much more about the current realities of the Republican Party than Garcia's comment does," he added. "The wink-nod approach that Trump pioneered during the 2016 campaign, galvanizing support and praise from a swath of avowed racists, as well as a much broader swath of people with right-wing inclinations, cleared a path and foreshadowed the grim terrain of current U.S. politics.

Man arrested for threatening Adam Schiff was likely under the influence of Fox News
Incendiary rhetoric combined with coverage that amplifies it can have real-life consequences.
A 52-year-old Arizona resident accused of leaving a death threat on the voicemail of Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff was likely angry about something he had just seen on Fox News, according to a recent court document.
Jan Peter Meister allegedly called Schiff’s office on October 1, the same day President Donald Trump had called for Schiff to be arrested for treason. Schiff was one of the leading prosecutors in the impeachment proceedings against the president.
Court filings make clear that Meister has a lot of issues. He’s a registered sex offender. His lawyers said he made the threats in a drunken stupor. And officers say that when they arrested him two days after the incident, “he smelled of alcohol, cursed at agents, and stated, ‘fuck [Adam Schiff].” Fox News isn’t the only variable at play in Meister’s alleged behavior.
Still, the episode illustrates how the network’s coverage of Trump’s remarks, including the most incendiary, has the potential for real-world consequences. (Fox News didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.)
Meister’s alleged threat came as Trump was upping his ugliness toward Schiff
Meister allegedly placed the call to Schiff’s congressional office on October 1 and went on a profanity-filled tirade that included him threatening to “blow your brains out.”
A court filing provides some details:
Following an investigation, Meister was arrested on October 3. He was indicted on October 23 on a host of charges, including illegal possession of a number of firearms.
Meister is pleading not guilty to all the charges. Now, in a court filing filed last Friday, lawyers representing Meister say the threatening voicemail was likely influenced by something he saw on Fox News.
From the filing, which was first reported by the Informant:
Agents explained [to investigators] that the call was to Congressman Adam Schiff.
MEISTER responded that he watches Fox News and likely was upset at something that he saw on the news. He stated that he strongly dislikes the Democrats, and feels they are to blame for the country’s political issues.
In short, Meister appears to have bought what Fox News has been selling.
Fox News normalizes Trump’s abusive language
As chair of the Intelligence Committee, Schiff played a leading role in Democratic efforts to start investigating the Ukraine scandal in earnest last September. As he did so, Trump dramatically escalated his attacks, demeaning Schiff at various points as “a sick man,” “Liddle,’” and “lowlife,” and calling on him to resign from Congress and “be investigated.”
Trump escalated things even further on September 29, saying Schiff should be “questioned at the highest level for Fraud & Treason” (Schiff had paraphrased Trump’s comments to the Ukrainian president in an unflattering light during a congressional hearing). Then, on both September 30 and October 1, Trump came right up to the brink of calling for Schiff to be arrested — tweets that capped off a week in which Trump posted some of his most bizarre tweets to date.
As I detailed back then, Fox News at that time was somewhat split between network personalities who seemed to be taking the Ukraine scandal seriously and those who continued to bash Trump’s opponents and push conspiracy theories aimed at exonerating him. Top-rated primetime host Sean Hannity, for instance, amplified Trump’s authoritarian and extrajudicial threats.
President Trump slammed Rep. Adam Schiff on social media Sunday; demanding he face questioning for “fraud and treason” after he misrepresented Trump’s phone call with the leader of Ukraine during...
Court filings don’t indicate which specific segment motivated Meister’s threat. But the general approach Fox News has taken to covering Trump’s attacks on his enemies gives you a sense of how they fan the flames of resentment.
At a rally last March, for instance, Trump debuted a new smear of Schiff, calling him “Little pencil-neck Adam Schiff” — comments that I noted at the time represented a new low for Trump. Fox News covered Trump’s insult with an article that made it seem as though it was somehow justified by his frustrations over the Russia investigation, and even provided free promotion for shirts the Trump campaign was selling to profit on it.

On UJR we call that the Charlie Sheen syndrome..... From living in the Fox/right wing bubble for so long you no longer have a tight grip on reality. Hoaxes are facts and facts are fake news. The enemy is everywhere.

I'm flattered, but for that to stick there has to be some troof to it. I cut my cable at least 2 years ago. My only exposure to Fox now is your loopy left references to it.
You might want to consider that 1/2 the country was cheering last night. 1/2 the country doesn't give a Dick aboot Fox. A few million perhaps, but this sounds like another exaggeration, something for which you are already known for, but haven't yet had a Uj pet name assigned to.
