It seems a simple thing but speaks volumes. I vacation most years late Summer at a Best Western in Burnet, Tx. (lakes, caverns, etc) for a little less than a week. Head cleaning lady has been there for years and we remember each other and even stay in touch later. I put up a "do not disturb " during my 4-5 day visits. I show her my room after all those days and she's shocked. All trash has been hauled away daily. Sheets, towels and general cleaning all that's needed. She says a good percentage of visitors just throw their leftover food on the ground for her to clean up the next day. So, when was shit like this ever acceptable.
Its "burn-it", durn it.
Nope, and it's a sour point for the locals. It's pronounced "Burn-et"

My takeaway from that little WTC anecdote is that he keeps in touch with the motel cleaning lady but makes fun of me for being a cleaning lady. I bet Juanita wouldnt think it's funny.

Speaking of cleaning ladies, mine comes today. Every other Friday for years now. Lazy ass teenagers at home are 'annoyed' they have to wake up by 11 am to get out of her way, so she can clean up their messy rooms and bathrooms. To this day, I can't get my wife to understand the concept of 'entitlement'. My step-kids, otherwise I would make them pick out their own switch! Argh, can't wait for school to start up again :)

I'd give them 2 choices, get up or do it themselves. I get a little annoyed when I have to clean kids rooms TBH. I never say anything but I do judge what lesson that's teaching the kid.

I agree, but convince my wife! If left to them, they would live in a 3rd world hut rather than take 5 minutes day to clean, away from their precious Tic Toc vids and YouTube surfing. Kids these days!

I love this! My wifi/router is on the same light switch for 5 years now, and no one in the family has figured it out yet. I flip it off sometimes to be a dick and/or to get my point across sometimes. Even to my wife :)

So anywho, we went to dinner earlier this week with friends and their 10 y/o boy. Would not leave his tablet alone. Parents used the 'I'm not going to say it again' about 20 times. Finally Dad shut off his wifi...and the kid nearly lost his mind! So embarrassing for us, the staff, other patrons.

And the parents sat there and let it continue. WTF? I tried to finish my meal, pay and get out of there ASAP. We had our kids have dinner and after, when the parents are having a last drink, we let them on the phones. Even our kids were like, let's get out of here! I took half my meal home and left 1/2 a drink on the table. Sacrilegious!

If your 10yo is neurotypical and you're still telling them 20 times and they're throwing fits, you shoulda nipped that shit in the bud at 3. Mine is also 10, he gets asked nicely once, told sternly and given "The Look" the second time if required, then? It never gets that far anymore because he knows momma dont play when it comes to following through. I'd have a VERY hard time sitting there quietly while a kid ignored their parents wishes.
