Saw that on the Houston Chronicle website a week or so ago. Interesting reading. Alligators would not be unfamiliar to those ocean bottom feeders. They get washed out to sea pretty regular after storms, hurricanes. Read that days after Katrina, workers on a oil platform 40 miles out to sea watched an alligator swim by. Back in the 1800's, when they were more numerous, several reports from fishermen seeing alligators and sharks fighting each other over schools of fish offshore.
