Well this fucking sucks

All the news from the peanut gallery and where all the nasty trash talk fails miserably.

southeast corner of town. near the trailerhood.
This is why back in the old UJ days when I mentioned ditzy across the street, everybody wanted to see a photo of her in her yard. I refused because of Google Street view. Back in my UJ puppy days, I was warned by a UJ vet to be careful about giving out personal info. Any info. And that Vet was DT.
that vet was me.
Bull fucking shit. It was DT. I was just lurking around 2007/8 until I joined in 2010. Happened before that.Way he told me, some married UJ couple gave way too specific info to some psycho female Uj'r . She traveled 250 miles or something and started banging on their windows at 3AM. When she didn't get a response, started busting windows. Cops called, arrest made. Can't remember her name. Any old UJ'rs remember that?
This is partially true, I did warn you about sharing too much info on UJ.
It was definitely after you joined, because I warned you via PM.
The banging on and busting windows with cops involved was never mentioned by me because I have no knowledge of that occurring.
I remember your PM warning. Right after I joined. Don't even remember what info I was giving out that concerned you enough to send a warning. Do you? Years before I even mentioned what town I lived in.

I don't recall the precise info, but it was enough that it had the potential to cause you a lot of grief.

And coming from you, that warning was a massive wakeup call for this UJ Noob at the time. How's work been?

Good, only working Mondays and Tuesdays now.
Partial retirement suits me well.
3 more years and I will sell the company outright and spend more time in the country and away from Austin.

Excellent, DT. Planning to partial retire to your ranch out near Lampassas? Or was it near San Saba?

well since san saba and lampasas are only 30 miles apart, that's not nailing down much.

It is since one or the other is where you go for your breakfast tacos on the weekends. Very important down here.

My current chopper/camping blade looks a lot like this (not this, but a lot like it)
CTS-XHP steel
Image

It's a fantastic chopper but the smooth handle doesn't agree with me so much anymore. I'm thinking I'll get something with a more contoured, grip-able handle and hand my current one down to my son.
But I don't like cheap blades. I love the all around quality of CTS-XHP but I'm thinking of moving up to Elmax or CPM-110V. Do you work with those?
What do you know about G05 steel?

I know little to nothing about that steel to be honest.
I'm a big fan of high carbon steel and prefer them to be cryogenically treated for extended edge holding capabilities.
A proper heat treated steel is my biggest concern.
The proper RC hardness is crucial to me to make sure the knife isn't one that needs to be sharpened often.

RC ratings vary by usage, but I prefer between 58 to 61 on the max end.
For Damascus steel, I prefer Alabama Damascus.
6A, 154CPM and AUS8 are some of my preferred steels.
O1 tool steel for those that understand it is not a stainless steel.

There are no current knives for sale there as I only take custom orders these days, but if you look in the sold section, you will find some of my previous builds.
